My beach series of paintings reflect my love for the beach. They began when I was living in a unit on Mermaid Beach at the Gold Coast. The paths, dunes and trees in these works were all part of my daily experience, and as such reflect the changing moods and feelings experienced living close to the ocean.

The beach path, which is a reoccurring theme, was the path I walked down each day to get to the beach. The original beach pieces were more subdued in colour, and the beach was often viewed from within a room, sometimes a somewhat moody room. The new beach works are brighter in colour and the paintings are viewed from outside the room.

It was a difficult decision to leave the beach to get a house with a studio, but this move will encourage a more expansive series of works.
